Ann T. Ciriello, 77, of Hernando, FL died on February 18, 2017 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, FL.  Ann was born on August 18, 1939 in Boston, MA, daughter of August and Marie (Madeline) Rego.  She attended Emmanuel College in Boston, graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and English.  Ann later received her Master’s and Advanced Studies Degrees in Special Education from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.  She taught High School in South Boston, Westford and Billerica, MA and retired from the Lowell, MA school system after 35 years as a special education teacher and core chairperson.

Ann and her husband Len met in high school in 1956 and were married in 1961 at St. Lazarus Church in Boston.  They resided in Chelmsford, MA for 38 years and moved to Florida in 2001 where Ann became an active member of the Citrus Hills Golf and Country Club and served as treasurer of the Women’s Club.  Ann was a competitive bridge and Mah Jongg player. She loved to read, watch British TV, international travel and history. Ann was a member of St. Scholastica Roman Catholic Church in Lecanto.

She was an avid fan of Boston sports and especially loved her Red Sox and the Patriots’ Tom Brady.  Ann was a vibrant and active woman.  Anyone who knew Ann knew her word was her bond. Her deep love of art continued throughout retirement and her oil paintings filled her home and those of her children. Her friends and family will miss her Sunday gravy and chocolate chip cookies.

Ann is survived by her husband of 55 years, Leonard Ciriello; three sons, Leonard Ciriello, Jr. and wife, Kim, of New York, NY, Steven Ciriello and wife, Lisa, of Chelmsford, MA, and Kenneth Ciriello and wife, Maria, of Stoneham, MA; brother, Richard Rego and wife, Lenora, of Reading, MA; eight grandchildren, Amber, Alexander, Benjamin, Alec, Perry, Anthony, Nicholas, and Michael; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Ciriello at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto.  In lieu of flowers, the Ciriello’s request that donations be made to WUFT-TV (PBS), Citrus County Friends of the Library or St. Scholastica Church.
