Arnold A. Virgilio, 70, of Hernando passed away on January 14, 2017. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, one of three sons of Arnold and Grace Virgilio. Arnold was very active in the community having held key leadership positions in the Rotary Club of Inverness, Cypress Creek Academy, American Legion and numerous other civic organizations. Arnold served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He leaves his beloved wife of 50 years, Mary Ann Virgilio; his sons Arnold III of Inverness and David of Houston, TX; a brother Richard and his wife Mary of Succasunna, NJ, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Virgilio. “Mr. V was a community leader and a role model; a generous man who gave of himself and took stock in his community; a humble man who worked tirelessly for his family; a quiet man who spoke volumes by his actions not by being loud and boastful. Someone I respected and looked up to. A great man has been called home. Rest in Peace, Mr. V, “says a close friend.
A Requiem Mass and dedication to honor his life will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness on Saturday, January 21, 2017 beginning at 12:15 P.M. A private military service will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been created in Arnold’s name.
