Billy Sims

Billy Gordon Sims , 76, of Inverness, FL died on Thursday August 3 ^rd , 2017 at Oakhill Hospital in Brooksville, FL. Billy was born on July 14, 1941 in Greenville AL, son of Alto Sims and Estora Campbell Sims. He moved to Inverness in 1972 from Orlando, FL. Billy was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Inverness.

Billy was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many. He loved spending time with family and he loved the Lord. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, playing the guitar, listening to bluegrass and gospel music.  He also enjoyed ministering to the sick and those in prison about the love of Jesus.

Billy is survived by his sister Linda Dillingham (Vernon) of Kingsland, GA, children Johnny Sims, Debbie (Ken) Mullen, and Kevin (Aleida) Sims, all of Orlando, FL Kelli (Tim) Ellis of Inverness, FL step daughter Karen Allen of Sarasota, FL; fifteen grandchildren, Madison, Dalton, Kaiden, Brent, Shelby, Megan, Michael, Carol, Jessica, John Michael, Courtnie, Evan, Brandon, Josh, and Caleb; and 8 great grandchildren, Cody, Cameron, Kyndal, Zyler, Kolby, Luke, Lucas, and Jade.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Veleria Jean Sims; parents Alto and Estora Sims; Brothers Harold Sims and Charles Sims; sisters Jackie Sue Ridley, Betty Lou Sessions, Ann Henderson; and step-son Larry Sykes.

Billy’s celebration of life service will be on Monday August 7th, 2017 at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Inverness. The viewing will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the service at 12:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at 2:00 PM.
