David Rozek was born October 7, 1936, in Bay City, Michigan, to Theodore and Irene Rozek. He was 78 years old. He departed this life July 9, 2015, in the loving care of Hospice House of Citrus and the Nature Coast, due to acute heart failure.
David attended Handy High School in Bay City, Michigan, graduating in 1954. He then attended Bay City Junior College for two years. On June 8, 1957, Dave married the love of his life and best friend, Lois Reinhart. They took their vows at Sacred Heart Church in Kawkawlin, Michigan. Dave and Lois had a large family, three boys and two girls. Dave started his career with Dow Chemical. Then the family moved to the upper peninsula of Michigan where he owned several businesses as well as becoming an electrical contractor. He retired in 1984. Then he and Lois moved to Inverness, Florida in 1985.
He was an avid Nascar and TampaBay Lightning fan. His most exciting hockey moment was getting to go the recent Lightning Stanley Cup playoff game, with his son-in-law. He also loved meeting his buddies for weekly poker games. The family never met half these guys, but Dave always talked just like they were family. Woodworking and gardening were also some of his favorite hobbies. He never missed a day of attending to his garden, and everyone in the family has something he made for them. Dave also loved fishing especially, with his sons. He has been on fishing trips from Canada all the way to Florida.
He came from a strong Polish background. He listened to Polish polka music all the time. Dave and Lois could polka like nobody’s business. Recently he and Lois went on a polka cruise with his sister, Diane her husband and his cousin Don and his wife. Out of all the wonderful cruises he and Lois had been on they loved that one the best. Keeping close to family was a priority for Dave. He was always an ear for advice when you needed it.
