Diane Marilyn Donahue, 71, of Citrus Hills, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2015 at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast with her husband by her side. She was born on January 26, 1944 to George and Ann Soles in Cambridge, MA. She is survived by her loving husband Jack of 51+ years, her son John Jr. and wife Deborah Donahue of Simsbury, Ct, her daughter Lynn Ann and husband James Knapp of Henderson, NV, her grandchildren Carlie Shea and Jack Donahue, her step-grandchildren Shaina and Gabrielle Ostrov of Simsbury, CT, and her brother Donald and wife Linda Soles of Hernando, FL.
Diane received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Carolina and a Master’s Degree from the University of Oklahoma. Diane and her husband moved to Citrus Hills in 1996 where they became active members of the community. Diane enjoyed working early elections and was the clerk of precinct 202 for many years. She was a past President, Treasury and Chair of numerous committees for the Citrus Hills Women’s Club. Diane was an avid reader, loved puzzles and playing bunco, mahjongg and bridge with friends. She had a passion for travel and explored the world by air, land and sea with her husband. She had an uncanny ability to remember birthdays, anniversaries, and special dates in friend’s lives.
A celebration Mass will take place at St. Scholastica Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Diane’s family would like to express their gratitude to everyone who cared for and supported her through her illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice of Citrus & Nature Coast or American Cancer Society. Heinz Funeral Home & Cremation, Inverness, FL.
