Edna Schmitz

Edna M. Schmitz, 83, of Hernando, FL died on September 9, 2015 at Health Center of  Brentwood, Lecanto, FL.   Edna was born in Knoxville, Iowa, on January 30, 1932, the daughter of John and Blanche Carton. Edna and her husband Philip were the owners of Schmitz Lawn Service in Pinellas Park, FL.  She moved to Hernando, FL in 1980. Edna was a seamstress at Superior Surgical Wholesale Clothing in Hernando. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Inverness, FL where she had been a Eucharistic Minister, and was active in Cursillo. She was also a member of the Floral City Women’s Club.

Edna was predeceased by her husband Philip in September 1997,

her parents, brother John Carton and sister Shirley Wallace.

Survivors include her son, Richard Heitland of Ackley, IA; brother, Willis Carton , Salt Lake City, UT; grandsons, Michael and Joseph Heitland and 7 great grandchildren; brother in law Brother Martin Schmitz;  several nieces and nephews including  Stephanie Fehrer, Gregory Schmitz and Mary Bolton. And her adopted family, David, Dynelle, Analise, Wesley and Samuel Heinz.

Funeral Mass for Mrs. Schmitz will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness.  The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
