Elizabeth "Betty" DeHaven

Hernando

Elizabeth L. (Betty) DeHaven of Hernando, FL passed away on December 2nd from complications arising from dementia.

Betty was born on January 13th , 1934, to Marcus and Mary Zweemer in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. After graduating from Hasbrouck Heights High School, Betty worked at a local bank in Hasbrouck Heights.

Betty married Warren J. DeHaven on April 24th , 1954, going on to have three children, Matthew, Mary Beth, and Elizabeth Ann (Lizz). Betty spent the next several years as a homemaker and mother.

After she and Warren moved to Pine Bush, NY in 1968, Betty eventually went to work in the Audio-Visual department at Pine Bush High School. She was also active in the Pine Bush Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary. She was very busy with both until moving to Hernando, FL in 1986. In Hernando, Betty worked for a short time at Citrus High School in Inverness.

When she and Warren finally retired, they were free to visit their children and grandchildren who had moved on to various locations throughout the United States. Betty was also active in the Hernando United Methodist Church as well as with her many friends in Hernando.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, her sister Mary Orr, Warren, her loving husband of 57 years, and grandchildren Emily and Matthew, taken too soon. She is survived by her brother, Bill, her three children, Matthew DeHaven, Mary Beth Martin, and Lizz DeHaven; her 7 grandchildren, Kelsey, Jacquelyn, Jay, Sean, Amelia, Brigette, and Gordon, as well as her great- grandchildren, George and Adella.

Memorial services will be held on January 4th , at 2:00pm at the Hernando United Methodist Church. FL. The service will be available on live stream at youtube.com/@humcfl
