Elwood M. Fort, 80, of Inverness, FL died on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast House in Lecanto, FL. Elwood was born on October 5, 1937 in Tampa, FL, son of Hansel and Wilma Fort. He was a mobile home repairman. Elwood moved to Inverness in 1972 from St. Petersburg, FL.
Mr. Fort is preceded in death by his wife, Harriet on July 1, 1988, son Rocky Elwood Fort on April 11, 2002, sister, Linda Green, and grandson, Cody Dalziel. Survivors include his two daughters, Tammy Burlew and husband Robert of Hernando, FL and Jill Liebers and husband Alan of Inverness, FL; five grandchildren, Ammie Bender of Inverness, FL, Robert Burlew of Inverness, FL, Jessica Harris of Inverness, FL, Christopher Fort of Panacea, FL, and Maggie Thacker of KY; five great grandchildren, Chase, Dakota, Bama, Blake, and Abigail; and his best friend “Killer”.
Funeral services for Mr. Fort will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Heinz Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service.
