Evalyn Hettenbaugh

Evalyn M. Carrick Hettenbaugh, 81, of Hernando, Fla., died July 19, 2013, at her residence. Evalyn was born Aug. 2, 1931, in Westfield, N.Y., the daughter of Harry and Ruth Bensink. She spent winters in Hernando and was a summer resident of Hidden Valley Campground in New York. Evalyn was a hairdresser for over 30 years. She was a retired office manager of Lily Industries in Jamestown, N.Y. She was past president of the Civic Club, Las Brisas Homeowners Assoc., The Hair Assoc., and PTA. Locally, she was a Share Club member and longtime volunteer at Citrus Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

Evalyn was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Hettenbaugh; her parents, Harry and Ruth Bensink; and brother, Paul Bensink. Survivors include her daughters, Judy Salvant of Manchester, Ga., and Darlene Friend of Jamestown, N.Y.; sons, Ronnie (Cheri) Carrick of Jamestown, N.Y., and Dennis (Shirley) Carrick of Raleigh, N.Y.; brother, Larry (Claudia) Bensink; sisters, Linda (Irv) Bair, Barbara Bensink, Shirley Vandenburg, Marilyn Wiggers; grandchildren, Noelle (Chris) Schilke, Danielle (Steve) Fusco, Jamie (Thomas) Antonelli, Deanna (Colin) Crossman, Jeremy (Carie) Carrick, Kyle Carrick, Jessica (Corey) Alexander, and Richard (Christy) Twilight,

Funeral services for Mrs. Hettenbaugh will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the Hernando Church of the Nazarene. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 3, 2013, at Falconer UMC, 208 N Works Church, Falconer, N.Y., pastor Chad Sayers will preside. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Citrus County or the Hospice of your choice. Heinz Funeral Home & Cremation, Inverness.
