Frederick A. Schnabele, 82, of Hernando, FL passed away on April 28, 2018 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, FL. Fred was born on May 3, 1935 in Silver Spring, MD, son of Frederick and Myrtle Schnabele. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps ending his military career as a Drill Instructor at Parris Island, SC. He became a Montgomery County Police Officer and then an insurance adjuster. Fred always had an entrepreneurial spirit owning several businesses. The last business he owned was an insurance claims company. A resident of Bowie for 20 years, Fred moved to Woodmore, MD in 1983, to Bonita Springs, FL after retiring in 1996 and then to Hernando in 2007. Fred was athletic and interested in sports especially Football, Baseball and Golf. He was a longtime member of the Bowie Belair Athletic Club (BBAC) and coached for and was involved with the Bowie Boys and Girls Club.
Mr. Schnabele is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rebecca Mooney Schnabele of Hernando, FL; four children, Rick Schnabele of Bowie, MD, Kyle Schnabele of Bowie, MD, Sharon Apperson and husband Kevin of West River, MD, and Kathy Schnabele of West River, MD; five grandchildren, Michael, Kailee, Kenneth, Dallas, and Brett, and several nieces and nephews.
