George Smith

George E. Smith, 93, of Inverness, FL died, on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast in Lecanto, FL. George was born December 1, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of George and Minnie Smith. He was a U.S. Navy Lieutenant serving in World War II. George retired as purchasing agent for the Village of Lindenhurst, NY.  He moved to Inverness in 1985 from Oakdale, Long Island, NY.

George was preceded in death by his first wife Marion Smith in 1971. Survivors include his wife Eleanor Smith of Inverness, FL; daughters Cynthia Thibedeau and her husband Roger of Inverness, FL and Debbie Dieumegard and her husband Al of Long Island, NY; son Ronald Schmitt and his wife Paula of Crystal River, FL; sister Janet Klinzing and her husband Roy of Normal, IL; nephews Steven Klinzing and his wife Lori of Long Island, NY, Mark Klinzing and his wife Kelli of Normal, IL, Greg Klinzing and his wife Annette of Normal, IL and Scott Klinzing and his wife Julie of Normal, IL; 11 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter and several great nieces and nephews.

Mr. Smith’s family will receive friends  on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Heinz Funeral Home in Inverness, FL.  Funeral services will begin at 4:00 pm. Reverend Harvey Dunn will preside.  Interment will be in New York.
