Lecanto

Gerald (Jerry) Lee Underwood, 83, of Lecanto, FL, passed away peacefully on September 27th, 2024. He truly was one of the nicest guys you’d ever meet. Everyone you left in this world is sad that you are gone but we are happy that you are in heaven with family and free from pain. We will always love and miss you until we meet again.

A celebration of life will be held at his daughter’s house in FL on 10/4 at 2 pm and then at the Colonial Inn in Cato, NY on 10/19 at 3 pm. Jerry had an amazing life and was such a positive person.

Jerry worked at Mack Trucks in Syracuse, NY before owning the Colonial Inn and then retiring to spend time with family and friends between Cross Lake in NY and FL. Jerry loved his cold beer, traveling, football games (Buffalo Bills all the way), country music and dancing. Even as his mind started to go, his body would still be moving on the dance floor. He even won some of those dance contests back in the day.

Jerry is survived by his sister Julia Stevens, daughters Melissa (Scott) Giamichael, and Ruth Moberley and his son Jerry (Tina) Underwood, his grandkids Jessica (Caleb Huffman) Giamichael, Alicia (Matt) Stevens, Josh Underwood, Brandon Underwood, Donovan Tower, and David Moberley, along with his niece Cathy (Dave) Barber and nephews Daniel (Donna) Stevens, Michael (Linda) Stevens and Jake (Julie) Stevens, his first wife and long-time friend Charlotte Taylor, and great grandkids Mason Huffman, Juniper Stevens and Brooks Stevens, along with many other nieces, nephews and cousins and lots and lots of friends.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mamie Underwood, his brother Ted, as well as his 2nd wife Alice and his 3rd wife Ginny. The heavens received another great one.

In memory of Jerry, please dress comfortably – in cut off jean shorts if you have them, drink a cold beer and tell the stories that make people laugh.
