Harry Ray Hitson, 86, Lake Panasoffkee, Florida, passed away peacefully in his home on February 17, 2022. He was born on May 1, 1935 in Andalusia, Alabama, the son of Irvin and Mae Bell Hitson.
Harry lived in Tampa, Florida and was the owner of Hitson Trucking Company, before moving to Lake Panasoffkee in 1989. He spent his time boating and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed traveling, but most days, at dusk, you could find him sitting on his porch watching the deer in his pasture. Most of all Harry enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a loving and devoted Husband, Dad and Grandpa.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ethel Hitson; four children, Debbie Stokes (Marcus), Lynda Remund (Rene), Ray Hitson and Anna Clark (Matthew); grandchildren, Lindsay Newton (Levi), Courtney Stokes (Mallory), William Hitson (Felicia), Ryan Hitson (Amy), Hayden Clark, McKenna Clark, Glory Clark, Eric Stokes (Samantha) and Matthew Stokes (Millie); several great grandchildren and a sister, Bettie Everhart (Ted) of North Carolina. Dear friends Pete and Chrissy Porter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Irvin Hitson and Morris Glenn Hitson; and grandson, Bobby Winkler.
A visitation with family and friends will be held 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, with a Celebration of Life beginning at 11:00 AM at Heinz Funeral Home, Inverness Florida. A Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 PM at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Tampa, Florida.
