Harry Phair

d. July 19, 2015

Harry Quinton Phair, 67

Hernando

On the afternoon of July 19, 2015 God called this soldier home.

Born October 31, 1947 he was raised in Queens, NY.  He spent his summers in Plattsburgh, NY in the home built by his grandfather.  After graduating from Brooklyn Tech HS and attending New York City College for three and a half years, he was drafted into the United States Army.  He served our country during the Vietnam War for six years.  Two of those years were spent as an Airborne Ranger.  He ended his term with the rank of Sergeant.  Following a twenty year career as a computer engineer he became a Pasco County Correctional Officer.  During his ten years with the Sherriff’s Office he used his military background to help develop Pasco County’s first T.A.C.T. Team and was also awarded Training Officer of the Year.

A jack of all trades, he enjoyed many hobbies.  Some of his favorites included scuba diving, playing softball, refinishing antiques and traveling. He was quick-witted and funny, you could always count on him for a laugh. He was able to fix or build almost anything.  A wealth of information, he was our human encyclopedia.

He was a loyal and dedicated family man. His loved ones always came first.  He was a wonderful son, husband, father, brother-in-arms and friend.  He will be missed every day.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Francis.  He is survived by his mother, Frances Mary (99), his loving wife of thirty seven years, Cynthia Anne, his two beloved daughters, Jennifer Frances and Catherine Anne and his faithful dog Black Jack.

Services will be held Friday, July 24, 2015 at 2:30 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102 nd Ave., Bushnell, FL 33513.  Please arrive 15 minutes early as services begin at 2:30 sharp.  A Celebration of Life will take place following the service at 11492 Mandlin Rd., Weeki Wachee, FL 34614.
