Inverness

Jeanne M. Kirkman, 80, of Inverness, passed away on August 18, 2024.

Thanks to Deborah Allies inspiration, I’ve written my own obituary - What’s important to me, Jeanne Kirkman. I was born in Jamaica, NY, the first of four children to John Donald and Ellen (Queck) Broesler in November of 1943 during WWII. My father, (a lifelong plumber), insisted I got the best lamb chop during meat rationing so I would grow up a healthy child, while he got the small chop and a potato. Being the oldest allowed me to be spoiled until the others came along. I have married, but some just weren’t princes. The Prince was my third attempt - Franklin Kirkman. He passed away from cancer way, way too soon. After Frank’s death, I enjoyed the company for many years of Carl Benjamin, another prince, but not being a Gabor, a fourth marriage was not on my radar. Hobbies kept me sane after retirement. Many, many murder and mystery books were devoured and carpentry from dollhouses to cabinets and tables kept me out of trouble. I have two children, my daughter Jeanne Phillips, who with her husband Mark and her sons Michael and Hayden live in Ft. Myers and my son John Hayden of Floral City and his son Robert Hayden of Inverness. My twin sisters Judy Skuce and Jane Broesler predeceased me as well as my brother John Broesler Jr. I’ve never understood why the younger siblings were gone first, leaving this old bat to survive. As Deborah Allies wrote, and I heartily agree, “There were those who tried to instill in me need to get right to get into heaven instead of the other direction, where I will no doubt reside with a number of my good friends.“
