Jeffrey Martin Burnett, 74, passed away peacefully at Citrus Memorial on Monday,
August 7th , 2023. Jeffrey was born on December 20th , 1948 at St. Mary’s Hospital in
Saginaw, Michigan. He was the second of eight children born to the late Seth (Bud) and
Virginia Burnett.
As a child, Jeff loved growing up near open farmland where he could hunt, fish, and
play. He reminisced of being allowed to bring a shotgun out back in the field to hunt but
not being allowed to cross the street in front of his home. Jeff served in the Army during
Vietnam in the 101 st Airborne Division as the Army’s “tip of the spear.” He was modest
about his various accomplishments, including earning perfect scores in marksmanship
and fitness during Army training as well as earning a Bronze Star and Air Medal for
heroic achievements in battle.
Jeff was a wonderful husband and father. He loved his family dearly and was most
content knowing his children were happy. Jeff was always willing to lend his time and
skills to those in need. He drafted and built beautiful homes to raise his children happy
and comfortable. He made it a priority to be supportive and present for every milestone
for his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gregory and his wife Conni, and
brother-in-law David.
Jeff is survived by his wife Therese and four children: Joseph, Natalie, Michael, and
Adrienne; brothers: Seth (Pete) and his wife Rosalie, and Mark and his wife Frannie;
sisters: Cecilia and her husband Daniel, Martha, Jeanne and her husband William, and
Kathleen. Even though Jeff was taken too soon, he valued simplicity and was grateful to
be surrounded by people who loved him. He will be dearly missed.
