Jerry Merritt

Jerry Merritt , 65, of Inverness, FL died on October 3, 2017 under the loving care of his family at the Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast House in Lecanto.  Jerry was born on December 11, 1951 in Monticello, FL, son of Harvey and Linnie Merritt.  He was a mechanic for Tropicana in Bradenton, FL and a member of the Tropicana Union.  Jerry moved to Inverness in 2010 from Bradenton, FL.  He was Baptist.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Wanda Merritt; son, Troy Sheppard and wife Sarah of Inverness, FL; daughters, Victoria Carlisle and husband Bubba of Monroe, GA and Tammy Merritt-Wilkins and Rob Abrams of Inverness, FL; brother, Jimmy R. Merritt and wife Ellen of Bradenton, FL; sister, Jessie Lou Dunlap of Crescent City, FL; and ten grandchildren, Chase, Marcus, Jacob, Caleb, Rachel, Benjamin, Anna, Rebecca, Layne, and Abigail.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Heinz Funeral Home.  Funeral services for Mr. Merritt will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Heinz Funeral Home.  Reverend Troy Sheppard will preside.  Burial will follow at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Floral City, FL.  Heinz Funeral Home & Cremation, Inverness, FL.  heinzfh.com
