John "Jack" Heinz

May 9, 1933 — January 17, 2025

Homosassa

John L. “Jack” Heinz passed away surrounded by family on January 17, 2025 at the age of 91 in Homosassa, Florida.

Jack was born to Peter Joseph Heinz and Regina Kozlowski Heinz in Jersey City, New Jersey on May 9, 1933. He served in the United States Army, rising to Corporal, from 1953 to 1955. Jack completed college coursework at Fairleigh Dickinson University and began his career at Curtiss Wright Corporation. He rose through positions in sales and marketing at Hewitt Robins, Grant Gear, Winsmith division of Unidynamics, Leroy-Somer and Baldor before founding and serving as Chief Executive Officer of Power Flow Technologies in Ocala, Florida. He was an active participant in the Power Transmission Distributors’ Association (PTDA) and proudly served as President of the Power-Motion Technology Representatives’ Association (PTRA) from 1992 to 1993.

Jack met the love of his life, Mildred “Millie” Bachthaler, in Teaneck, New Jersey in 1952. Their love story lasted almost 60 years, until Millie’s passing in 2011. More than anything, Jack enjoyed gathering his family together in houses by the beach, from Scituate, Massachusetts to Ocean City, New Jersey to Maui, Hawaii. “It’s 5:00 somewhere!” would invariably be the call to start an evening of cocktails, Millie’s exceptional cooking, and stories. (“If you’ve heard this story before, don’t stop me” was another favorite line of Jack’s.)

He is survived by three children: Kurt Heinz (Jennifer), Lisa Heinz Macpherson, and Jon Heinz (Beth Ann); and four beloved grandchildren, Matt Heinz, Kaitlin Heinz, Kelsey Macpherson, and Sarah Heinz.

Jack will be laid to rest beside his adored wife Millie Heinz with a private gathering and military honor guard at Florida National Cemetery at Bushnell on Wednesday, January 22. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to VITAS Healthcare, 3280 W Audubon Park Path, Lecanto, FL 34461.
