John E. Schott , 80, of Inverness, FL, died October 3, 2016 at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. John was born April 29, 1936 in Rochester, NY, the son of Harold and Louise Schott. He was a U.S. Army veteran. John was the owner of Schott Trucking and Excavating in Grantville, PA. He and his wife Susan were Inverness snow birds since 1990 before becoming permanent residents of Inverness in 2014. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Bergen, NY.
John was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Harold and Charles and son, John E. Schott Jr. Survivors include his wife of 34years, Susan Schott; daughters Cynthia Germuga and husband Francis of Batavia, NY and Tami Slingerland of Lyndonville, NY; son Michael Schott of Inverness, FL; grandchildren Claudia Germuga, Benjamin Slingerland, Bethany Slingerland, Naomi Slingerland, Jonathan Slingerland and Joshua Slingerland; great grandchildren Margaret Snell, Bentlee Snell and Isabella, Payton and Spencer Slingerland. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to:
