Lois Ann Hamby, 87, walked through the Gates of Heaven into her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ’s arms on June 15, 2016. She was born in Flint, Michigan, November 23, 1928 to the late Nina Taylor Reeves and Albert Frank Reeves. She moved to Tampa as a teenager and resided with her husband and children in St. Petersburg before retiring to Lake Panasoffkee. She was a devout Christian woman, loving wife, nurturing mother of three children and a dear friend to many. She is survived by her wonderful husband of 60 years, Charles Hamby and her children, Charlene Gates, Brian Hamby (Janet Hamby) and Tina Kline (Jesse Kline), her 7 grandchildren, 2 nieces, and 1 nephew and 2 great granddaughters.
Lois loved the simpler things in life and had a true appreciation for others. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and growing orchids. She was actively involved in numerous church activities including women’s guilds as well as serving as the Director of Vacation Bible School. She was always kind and had a giving heart, while she naturally gravitated to helping those less fortunate.
A Memorial service to celebrate her life will take place on June 29, 2016 at 12:30 pm at Sumterville United Methodist Church 2565 CR 522 Sumterville, FL 33585. In lieu of Flowers the family graciously accepts donations in memoriam to Cornerstone Hospice at www.cornerstonehospice.org.
