Louis Castillo , 82, of Inverness, FL, died on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. Lou was born on May 5, 1932 in New York, NY, son of Felix and Ramona Castillo. He graduated from the Manhattan High School of Aviation Trades in 1951 and served with distinction in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Coral Sea during the Korean War. Lou was a highly trained electrical engineer and worked for nearly 30 years for Eastern Airlines as a master airplane electrician.

Lou and his wife of 63 years, Nilza Castillo, of Inverness, traveled the world and shared a lifetime of love, laughter and adventure. Lou spent his early childhood years in rural Connecticut where he developed a love of the outdoors that grew deeper as the years went by. A passionate hunter, Lou was never more at home than when he was in the woods, especially on his piece of paradise he called “The Property”, his beloved 100-acre hunting camp deep it the Georgia pines. He shared his passion with his children and grandchildren, who will endeavor to carry on his priceless legacy.

Lou was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, past chaplain of the Inverness Elks Lodge 2522, a member of the Moose Lodge 2112, VFW Post 4337, the Spanish American Club of Citrus County and Boy Scout Troop 457- where he was Grandpa Lou to countless young men.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Nilza; children Glenn Louis Castillo, of Sacramento, CA., Susan M. Castillo-Jobson of Jamaica,W.I. and New Orleans, LA., and Gregory P. Hamilton (Jean) of Inverness; brother Richard Castillo of Huntsville, AL.; grandchildren Louis Sebastian Jobson, Christopher Hamilton (Ashley) and Sean Hamilton (Jessica); and great-grandson Louis Marshall Hamilton.

A memorial service for Mr. Castillo will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Heinz Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of service.  Heinz Funeral Home & Cremation, Inverness, FL.
