Mary Lou Gilbert

Mary Lou Gilbert, 90, of Inverness, FL, passed away on August 29, 2023. She was born in Bluefield, WV, on January 8, 1933, to the late Eugene and Mary Travis.

She relocated to Florida in 1998. Mary Lou worked as a nurse. She was a veteran of the US Navy.

She was Jewish by faith and taught Hebrew classes for many years. She also taught ceramics classes and was very artsy.  She made clothes for children in Africa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her four children, Vicki Thomas and her husband Lee, Dawn Wilson, David Gilbert and his wife Natalie, James Gilbert and his wife Ida Maree Djurovitch; as well as 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A Graveside Service, with military honors, will be held at 12:30 PM, on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
