Norman J. Lavertu Sr. , 82, of Homosassa, Florida, passed away October 27, 2017. He was born August 16, 1935 in Wallagrass, Maine to Romeo and Adeline Lavertu.

He moved to the area 17 years ago from Bristol, Connecticut. He was retired and spent his days working around the house, helping family members and friends.

He is survived by his children Ronnie Lavertu, Wayne Lavertu and Wanda Lavertu. (He had another  son, Norman Lavertu, Jr. who passed in May of 2014 and his wife Melda “Babe” Lavertu passed in March of 2017), four granddaughters, two grandsons and one great granddaughter.

He grew up in Ft. Kent, Maine as an only child, finding out too late in life that he actually had 3 half brothers, and many other new relatives.

When he was young, he served in the United States Marines for four years. He later became a member of the Knights of Columbus and worked his way to the highest rank of 4 th degree (also known as “The Patriotic Degree”).

He enjoyed being a loving husband, father and friend. He liked to spend time golfing, boating, fishing and sometimes helping others work on things that challenged being fixed.

Flowers are nice or donations can be made to the family at the reception in the parish hall after the service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at St. Scholastica Catholic Church located at 4301 W.
