Olga Girau Hernandez

Olga I. Girau Hernandez, 79, of Dorado, Puerto Rico, has passed on Saturday, May 18, 2024 surrounded by family and loved ones at Oak Hill Hospital, in Brooksville, Florida.

Olga was born on May 20, 1944 to parents Eluterio Hernandez and Elena Hernandez Santana in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she was raised alongside siblings Elsie, Hector, Luis, and Carmen. As an adolescent, she moved to New York with her family where she would go on to start and grow her loving family.

Olga was a beloved member of her community in Dorado, having received official recognition from the mayor for her extraordinary commitment to help anyone in need. She was also a cherished member of the Union Church of San Juan.

Olga loved music and classic movies, taking any opportunity to dance and sing with her friends and family or bond over her favorite film. She brought joy to those around her through her many creative talents, including sewing, crochet, pretty punch embroidery, and cooking.

Above all else, however, was her love for her family. Olga was a devoted wife of 49 years to Francisco Girau; dedicated mother to Jimmy and Ricardo Lopez, Nancy Rowell, and Cynthia Girau; loving grandmother to Ricardo Lopez Jr, Francisco and John Charles Rowell, and Omar Alejandro and Ricardo James Angulo Girau; and blessed great-grandmother to Analyce and Aryanna Lopez and Douglas Charles Rowell II.

Please join us in celebrating her life on Saturday, May 25, 2024, with a gathering from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM, and a service beginning at 3:00 PM, at Heinz Funeral Home, 2507 Highway 44 West, Inverness, Florida, 34453.
