Oscar (Budd) M. Cook, 92, Inverness, Florida, passed away March 13, 2015, at Citrus Nature Coast Hospice, Lecanto, Floirda, with his loving wife, Carrie, of 42 years and daughter-in-law, Cindy, by his side. He was born in Gratiot, Wisconsin, Aug. 23, 1922, to Oscar M. and Aletha M. (Opie) Cook. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 as a communication specialist. He served on the USS Warhawk and in China. Bud was self-employed as owner of Budd Cook TV in Altamonte Springs and Kingswood TV in Orlando. He retired in the early 90’s and moved to Inverness in 1996.
He loved being outdoors working in his yard and growing blueberries. He was a member of Citrus Sprngs Horseshoe Club, and lifetime member of VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed all sports and was a true Rays fan. Budd was a loving and caring husband, dedicated, loving and straight forward dad and fun filled, unselfish and caring grandpa and great-grandpa. He loved spending time with the family and playing with his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Aletha Morie; sister, Martha Tonn; brother, Opie Cook; son, Donald A. Cook; nephew, Mark Morie; and niece, Mona Ward.
He is survived by his wife, Carrie Cook; son, Jeffrey L. Cook and wife, Cindy; step-son, Scott King and wife, Donna; grandchildren, Jason Cook, Amanda Cook (Mark) Scalzi, Corey Cook, Clayton King, Collin King and Donals Swartzenberger; great-grandchildren, Jarimyah, Joel and Calhi Cook and Beau Scalzi; sister, Mary Margret Low; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Citrus Springs Horseshoe Club or First United Methodist Church of Inverness, Gods Kitchen. There will be a celebration of life gathering at the family home for family and friends to share memories from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015, with a short service at 3 p.m. Heinz Funeral Home and Cremation, Inverness.
