Paul Howard Salyer, 83 yrs old of Inverness FL, passed away on October 15, 2018. Paul was born in Salyersville, KY on May 19, 1935 to Corbet and Audrey Salyer.
Paul and his family moved to Florida from Michigan in 1973. Along with his wife Jan, they raised their family in Brooksville before moving to Floral City. Together they were owners/operators of Jan’s Antiques for almost 7 years.
Paul was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps, serving his country during the Korean War. Paul was a long time member of the Inverness Veterans of Foreign Wars, post #4337 and one of their original founding members of their Military Honor Guard that was formed in 1994 to render Military Honors to fallen veterans. Paul also belonged to the Marine Corps League #819 of Inverness, the Korean War Veterans Association #192, the Moose Lodge #2013 of Crystal River, the Eagles Club #3992 of Inverness and the Elks Lodge #2522 of Inverness.
Paul is survived by his wife Janet “Jan” Francis Salyer of Inverness, Florida, daughters Teresa Marie Salyer of High Springs, Florida, Brenda Salyer Wilkins of Mechanicsville, VIrginia and son, Tim Salyer of Baltimore, Maryland. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Paul will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Paul’s urn will be interred and laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. at a later date. Heinz Funeral Home and Cremation, Inverness, FL.
