Peter Monteleone, 91 of Pine Ridge, FL entered into eternal life while under the loving care of family and Vitas Healthcare Hospice in Lecanto, FL.
He was born in East New York, Brooklyn on November 23, 1929, to the late Charles and Lillie Monteleone. He attended Franklin K Lane High School in Brooklyn, where he was a star basketball player. After high school, he was drafted into the US Army and spent the years 1951-53 in Heidelberg, Germany with Army Intelligence. After his stint in the Army, he started his career on Wall Street where he worked his way diligently up to becoming an Executive Vice President with Tsai Management Corporation from whence he retired in 1974.
He moved to his beloved Citrus County in 1989 from Freeport, NY to Citrus Springs. He came with his cousins John and Angie Ceparano and Charles and Louise Di Giovanni. While in Citrus Springs he was very active in community affairs. He started on the Crime Watch, became a founding member of the MSBU, Municipal Service Benefit Unit, which oversaw the building of the Citrus Springs Community Center, the renovation of Wesley Jones Park, the addition of streetlights and the re-pavement of roads within the community. He received numerous Citizen of the Year awards for his service.
In 2000, he moved to Pine Ridge. Over the years, he has since moved several times within that community. He was a frequent contributor to “Letters to the Editor” in the Citrus Chronicle always discussing community related issues.
Peter is survived by his son Peter Charles, brother Andrew, nephews Anthony and Andrew, nieces Mary, Maryellen, Lorraine, Michelle and Annie and numerous cousins.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Grace Church in Beverly Hills, FL on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 11:00am.
Peter will be laid to rest, alongside his loving wife Marie, at Saint John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, Queens, New York at a later date.
