Peter Frederick Woodin Jr., 89, of Inglis, FL, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, August 2, 2014. He was born July 28, 1925 in Halfmoon, NY to Peter Frederick Woodin Sr. and Ida Mae (Sober). He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Robert Gerald Woodin, and his son, Peter Frederick Woodin III. Peter proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corp and at the end of WWII went back to school continue his education as a certified electrician. In 1953, he worked at General Electric Knolls in Schenectady, NY on the Hermes Project and in 1956 he relocated to Pinellas County, FL to work at the G.E. Neutron Device Department in Largo, where he retired on August 1, 1985 after 32 years. Pete is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Mary Lorraine (Fafard) Woodin; seven children: Sharon Ball and Ruth Simms of TX; Dennis Woodin (Gayla) and Douglas Woodin (Ludy) of OK; Duane Woodin (Shirley) of TX; Jacques Woodin and Dixie Porambo of Inglis, FL; 25 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and has one great-great grandchild. Pete had a passion for learning and was a true Renaissance man, loved people, and was a member of the American Legion Post 1450 in Halfmoon, NY since 1948. Services for Mr. Woodin will take place in NY at a later date.
