Richard Maccabee

Richard W. Maccabee, 82, of Inverness, FL died on December 22, 2017 at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast in Lecanto.  Richard was born on January 1, 1935 in Tarrytown, NY, son of Walter and Evelyn Maccabee.  He turned down several basketball scholarships in order to join the U.S. Marine Corp.  Richard worked for the Village of Sleepy Hollow, NY as a maintenance technician.  He was a member of the Sleepy Hollow Rod and Gun Club and the Sleepy Hollow Volunteer Fire Department.  He moved in Inverness in 1994.  Richard was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

Mr. Maccabee is survived by his wife, Ann M. Maccabee of Inverness, FL; his son Richard Maccabee, Jr. of Salt Point, NY; his daughter Derri Vincek of Copake, NY; step children, Cathy Downing of Sleepy Hollow, NY, Buddy Barr of Wellsville, NY, Sean Barr of White Plains, NY, and Maureen O’Hara of Mahopac, NY; sister Evelyn Oliver of Sarasota, FL; five grandchildren, Jesse, Stephanie, John, Michael and Debra; and three great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alexis, and Alonzo.

A Memorial Mass for Mr. Maccabee will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.  Heinz Funeral Home & Cremation, Inverness, FL.  heinzfh.com
