Armitage, Robert McGill, 88, better known as Mac, went to be with his Lord & Savior on Friday, September 16, 2022 while surrounded by his loving family. Mac was born June 20, 1934 to the late Robert Colin & Sarah (nee McGill) Armitage in Ybor City, Florida. He was a Christian by faith and a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean War. Mac was a car and motorcycle enthusiast and owned his first car & motorcycle by the age of 12. He was a member of the Golden Eagles Motorcycle Club, the Cruisers, Christian Motorcyclists Association, and Stagecoach Junction Fellowship Church.
Mr. Mac is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lynn (nee Smoot), his children: Tammie (Michael) Saffels, Beth (Grant) Hile and Michael (Gena) Armitage; his step-children: Sandi (Ron) Ondersma, Cindy Spitzer, Emma (Tim) DeLong, and Michael (Vicky) Pape; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren (Another on the way); 12 step-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren; half-siblings: Jan (David) Rau and Jim (Kris) Armitage; and his half-brothers wife Paula Armitage. He was preceded in death by his parents, his half-brother Bruce Armitage, and his late wife Thonette Armitage.
There will be a celebration of Mac’s life at a graveside service on Saturday, September 24 at 2 PM at Hillsboro Memorial Cemetery in Brandon, FL (2323 W Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511). Following the service, everybody is invited back to the Golden Eagles Motorcycle Club Clubhouse at 9901 Henderson Rd, Tampa, FL 33625 as the Celebration of Mac’s life continues with food and fellowship.
