Robert Lang Jones passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016. He was born January 13, 1925, in Columbus, Ohio, to Ruth (Littrell) and John Paul Jones.
Robert was a Naval Veteran of World War II, serving as Radioman on the USS LST 712 with the Pacific Fleet. He was released from service April 2, 1946, having received several campaign and liberation medals and ribbons during his service
He went to college and received his Bachelor Degree in Microbiology from Ohio State University, Columbus. He later received his Master Degree in Public Health from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He worked his entire career with the State of Ohio Department of Health Laboratories in Columbus, Ohio.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anna Marie Keever Jones, and his sister, Virginia Lee Lucas. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Jeanne (John) Powell, and 8 nieces and nephews.
The family wish to express our deepest thanks to: the caring staff at Sunshine Gardens, Robert’s home for the past two and a half years; his friend, Char Waters; and the nurses and staff from Hospice of Citrus County and the Nature Coast who cared for him the last several months.

A memorial service celebrating Robert’s life will be held at 10 am Monday, October 31, 2016 at Heinz Funeral Home, 2507 Hwy 44, Inverness, FL, with Rev. Kenneth Blyth of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest with his wife Anna Jones at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
