Rodney J. Caldwell , 52, of Floral City, FL died on April 23, 2017 at his home under the loving care of his family. Rodney was born on April 2, 1965 in Portland, IN, son of Dale Caldwell and Gladys Younger. He was very proud of his service in the U.S. Navy, serving our country. Rodney moved to Floral City in 1991 from Bluffton, IN, once he was honorably discharged from the Navy. Through Rodney’s adult life he was a loving, devout father to his two girls. Rodney enjoyed coaching his daughters’ sports teams, including basketball and softball. Rodney had a very competitive spirit. He also loved to put his boat in the Gulf with the chance that he’d get to “reel in a massive one” and share his stories with all. He looked forward to being able to share his love of sports and the water with his grandchildren.
Rodney was also an avid salesman. Rodney’s competitive drive and determination led him to his many accolades and acknowledgements of being a top seller/top producer throughout his career. Rodney prided himself in being able to “close the deal.”
Survivors include his two daughters, Kindra Whitlock of Dunnellon, FL and Kyla Federici of Winter Spring, FL; two grandchildren, Delainey Rae and Decker Joe Whitlock; two brothers, Rick Younger of St. Petersburg, FL and Floyd Caldwell of Ossian, IN. Rodney also leaves behind three nieces; and one nephew.
Funeral services for Mr. Caldwell will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Heinz Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services.
