Ruth Atherton

Ruth Atherton, 86, of Inverness, FL, passed away on February 19, 2021. She was born on December 23, 1934 in St. Petersburg, FL, daughter of the late Arthur and Ruth Armstrong.

Ruth was Baptist by faith. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Floral City,    as well as a member of TOPS and the Golden Agers Group.  She volunteered at Lakes Region Library. She was an owner/operator of C.A. Atherton Oil Company in St. Petersburg.

Survivors include her children, Cheryl Green of Inverness, FL, Kathy Hollifield of Plant City, FL, James Atherton Jr. of Homosassa, FL, Thomas Atherton of Americus, GA and Kenneth Atherton of Tarpon Springs, FL; 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by his parents, her husband, James Atherton and sister, Jennette Young.

A  Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Floral City.  A Graveside Service will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Petersburg at 2:30PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Food Bank at First Baptist Church of Floral City.
