Santiago Ortega

Santiago “Papi” Ortega , 78, of Inverness, FL died on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Florida Hospital, Land O’ Lakes, FL.  Papi was born on July 25, 1935 in Las Villa, Cuba.  He was a mechanic at the New York Naval Shipyard in Brooklyn, NY.  Santiago moved to Inverness in 1980 from Port Reading, NJ.  He worked at the  ABC Liquor Store in Inverness.

Survivors include, son Jimmy Ortega and his wife Marlene of Inverness, FL; companion, Ana Maria Garcia of Inverness, FL and grandchildren, Chris Ortega of Inverness, FL  and James Michael of  Perth Amboy, NJ.

Papi’s family will receive friends on Friday, July 18, 2014 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Heinz Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Inverness, FL on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 11:300 am. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.
