Shirley J. Porter

Shirley June Porter, 86, of Lecanto, FL, went home to be with our Lord on
May 26, 2023. She was born in San Fernando, CA on December 24, 1936, to
the late Rudolph and Thelma Rockwell.

Shirley worked as a supervisor for the US Postal Service while living in Des
Moines, IA. After relocating to Citrus County, FL in 1985 she continued
working as a window clerk at the Crystal River post office.

She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Beverly Hills, FL. Shirley
was a devoted Christian who loved helping others and sharing the gospel.
She enjoyed being with her family, watching game shows, singing, going to
church, and sharing stories of the “Good Old Days.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 38 years,
Donald E. Porter, her two siblings, Rudolph Rockwell II and Lynn
Rockwell, and her daughter Lisa Mickael.

She is survived by her children, Mark Porter, Julie Enos (Jack), Kurt Porter
(Elnora), Margaret Purdy (Robert), and Sylvia Holcomb; 11 grandchildren,
Aaron Porter, Mike Enos, Christopher Porter, Beth Khoundara, Cassie
Phipps, Amanda Purdy, Joe Wood, Jimmy Enos, Douglas Ballard, Nichole
Wyckoff, Tabitha Mooney and 31 beautiful great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Norwoodville Baptist Church in Des
Moines, IA on Friday, June 30 th at 1:00 PM with lunch to follow. Shirley
will be laid to rest next to her husband at Berwick Cemetery in Ankeny, IA.
